Goodbye Gown…
…you served me well!
If you check out the pictures, you’ll see that I had a most excellent wedding gown. Now that my special, special day is over I really had no idea what to do with it. It’s not like I’m ever going to wear it again. Besides, it’s a whole lot of gown, so I doubt if anyone I know will want to wear it either. I saw a few places that offered wedding gown preservation, but all that sort of creeps me out. I guess I could sell it, but since it took me forever to find it, I doubt if there are too many people who are in the market for a gown like that anyway.
Fortunately for me, I came acrossed Brides Against Breast Cancer, an organization that facilitates the selling of donated gowns with proceeds going to grant wishes for women who have been diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. The best thing about this organization is that they’re going to be in Chicago THIS WEEKEND with their national gown tour and sale. Me and my dress will head over there saturday morning where I will bid my dress adieu and volunteer for a few hours helping people choose dresses for themselves all the while helping fund wishes for women who could really use some wishes granted.
If you’re in the Chicago area and would like to volunteer with me this weekend, you can sign up on the website. If you’re someone with a wedding gown just hanging around the house, I encourage you to donate. If you’re neither of those, but would still like to contribute, you can also give a monetary donation on the website.
